I'm working with the black production model. I'm able to cycle through the color wheel and can see blue and green light fine, but no red (and therefore no purple or yellow). I don't know much about the LED, but I assume the white light isn't being made by mixing RGB.
Is this a hardware failure?

Interesting problem... My only guess would be a hardware issue. Can you try uploading the basic LED sketch from the library? That will be a simple check. If you still get nothing, send me an email - leif@visualight.org and I'll get a replacement out to you. Leif I'm working with the black production model.
